The Historical area of the Festival will be located in front
of and on the interior of the County Office Building, 111 Chesapeake
Avenue.
It is here that visitors will be enlightened on the history
of African American life in Baltimore County by viewing a
photographic display of African American life that consist
of approximately 8,000 photographs as well as:
- Display and interaction with the Baltimore Chapter of
the Buffalo Soldiers.
- Display and interaction with the Friends of the Benjamin
Banneker Museum and Historical Park.
- Display and interaction with the Supik Family who owns the
Emmart-Pierpont House which was a safe-house during the Underground
Railroad when it ran through Baltimore County.
- Display and interaction with living members of the Tuskegee
Airmen who fought so bravely during World War II.
- Display and interaction with living members of the Veterans
of the 231st Transportation Truck Battalion who served in
Korea as members of the Maryland National Guard.
- Display and interaction with the Julian Branch of the Association
of the Study of African American Life and History
There will be a free bus tour that will be guided by either
Lenwood Johnson, a historian or Louis S. Diggs, also a historian
and author of eight books on African American communities and
life in Baltimore County.
